Church Trailer Stolen

Dear Friend, We discovered on Wednesday, November 21 at 8pm that our church trailer had been stolen from its storage location. Even though everything New City owns is now gone, we know that a church is much more than stuff and that Jesus still reigns.

There are at least three ways to react to the evil that has been done to us. We could get really angry and upset. We could throw ourselves a pity party. Or we could respond with good as Romans 12:21 says, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

So there are three ways I want to encourage you to respond.

  1. Pray for God’s sovereign will to be done and for this thief to find forgiveness in Jesus.
  2. Be radically generous to Mission Avenue kids by participating in the Christmas Gift Mart. Our goal is to have 300 gifts for 90 families, and we do not want this unfortunate event to distract us from giving to others.
  3. Respond by being generous to New City. Even though we’ve filed our insurance claim already, this event is not going to come without significant cost to New City. It may be a few months before we can replace what was stolen. At the end of the year we are going to need the generosity of our people to further the mission of our church.

My hope for the New City family is to discover the joy of trusting in Jesus even when the depravity of this world hits close to home.

I hope you had an awesome Thanksgiving day. I really look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

With Love,

Nate Bush Lead Pastor New City Christian Church www.newcityabq.org
